The Katsina State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has expressed concern over what it described as the deteriorating state of security and education in the state.
The development was made known at a thanksgiving ceremony organised by students in honour of Senator Yakubu Lado, where the state PDP Chairman, Alhaji Nura Amadi Kurfi, spoke on the growing challenges facing the state.
Kurfi said the security situation in Katsina has worsened significantly in recent years, affecting livelihoods and threatening the safety of communities across the state.
He argued that both the security and education sectors require urgent and deliberate intervention, stressing that they remain the foundation of sustainable development in any society.
According to him, insecurity has undermined socio-economic activities in the state and reversed earlier progress recorded in key sectors.
Kurfi also contrasted the current situation with what he described as the “16 golden years” of PDP administration in Katsina, maintaining that significant gains achieved during that period have since been eroded.
He accused the present leadership of failing to sustain those gains, resulting in what he described as years of developmental setbacks across major sectors.
Despite the concerns raised, the PDP chairman expressed optimism that the situation could be reversed, adding that the party’s agenda includes targeted programmes aimed at improving security and revitalising the education sector.
In his response, Lado assured supporters that their confidence in him would not be misplaced, pledging to dedicate himself to the pursuit of better governance.
