Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum, has stated the social gathering’s present struggles are largely self-inflicted, pushed by private ambition taking priority over its founding ideology.
Speaking in Abuja on throughout a gathering of PDP founding members and key stakeholders, Damagum lamented that many throughout the social gathering have deserted collective objectives for egocentric pursuits.
He stated this shift, which dates again to the Obasanjo presidency, has left the social gathering weakened.

He urged members to cease aligning with different political {groups} whereas nonetheless claiming allegiance to PDP, warning, “It is either you are a PDP member or not, as you cannot belong to two political parties at a time.”
Damagum appealed to those that have left the social gathering to return, saying, “Let it be said and known that our doors remain open to those who wish to return, and it is my earnest prayer that in their return, they may rediscover themselves. After all, we are still the party that gave many their first political home.”
