The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, on Thursday congratulated the lawmaker representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Tony Nwoye, over his emergence as the Senate Minority Whip.
Obi, in a post on X said Nwoye’s emergence as the new Senate Minority leader is a call to greater service.
Recall that Nwoye was unanimously appointed as the leader of the Senate minority caucus following the defection of two lawmakers of the Peoples Democratic Party to the ruling All Progressives Congress on Wednesday.
Nwoye, who won his seat under the Labour Party platform, had defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in March.
Reacting to his appointment, Obi, in the post titled, “Elevation for More Service to Humanity”, said Nigerians are looking forward to a leadership of hope from the lawmaker.
He also urged the Anambra lawmaker to remain committed to tge delivery of good governance to his constituents and the Nigerian people at large.
Obi said, “My dear younger brother, Distinguished Senator Tony Nwoye, congratulations on your emergence as the Senate Minority Whip.
“This elevation provides a greater platform for you to continue your service to humanity, particularly the poor and suffering Nigerians who look toward principled leadership for hope.
“Remain steadfast to the Unity of our dear country, the well-being of the people, and the progress of our nation towards a new Nigeria that is POssible,” Obi wrote on X.
