Police operatives on Monday reportedly raided the Ogbomoso residence of the family of Prince Adeyemi Adeniyi, the central figure in the alleged Presidential Fiscal and Infrastructure Projects Council (PFIPC) scandal, arresting his father and a family friend.
The house, located at Plot 3, Adeniyi Dynasty, behind Technical College, Road Safety Area, Ogbomoso, was said to have been stormed by officers in four vehicles.
According to eyewitnesses and human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, the officers arrested Adeniyi’s father alongside a visitor, while his elderly mother was left traumatised by the incident.
Condemning the arrests, Falana told Punch, “Police have now stormed the house of the parents of Prince Adeyemi Adeniyi… The father has been arrested. There is no legal basis for substituted arrests. The young man has promised to show up in court, so why arrest his father?”
Residents of the area said the operation caused panic, alleging that the officers harassed members of the family before leaving with the two men.
They added that concerned neighbours later moved Adeniyi’s mother to safety after she was left distressed by the incident, while a man dressed in blue was reportedly seen patrolling the area after the raid.
NAIJAONPOINT reports that Prince Adeyemi Adeniyi is facing charges of forgery, impersonation and allegedly operating a fictitious government agency linked to the PFIPC.
The Presidency has maintained that the council was never legally established, despite claims that it operated under government authority and received significant budgetary allocation.
The latest development has intensified public interest in the case, with Falana and other observers calling for due process and warning against actions that could appear as intimidation during ongoing court proceedings.
The police had yet to issue an official statement on the reported arrests as of the time of filing this report.
