The administration of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has begun the demolition of a house allegedly used as a hideout by the kidnappers of the sister of the immediate past Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons.
Naijaonpoint understands that a building, located at Lakoun Estate, Olomi-Olojuoro Road, in Oluyole Local Government Area of the state, was said to have been used by the suspected kidnappers before the victims were rescued by the police.
The victims were abducted last Wednesday and later rescued on Saturday following a police operation.
In a report on Monday, June 8, Daily Post claimed that officials of the Oyo State Ministry of Public Works and Transportation moved demolition equipment to the area to pull down the building.
The exercise was carried out in the presence of operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, who provided security at the scene.
Residents of the area were said to have watched as government officials commenced the demolition of the suspected hideout.
The development came days after the police rescued Adelabu’s sister and her twins from their abductors.
The incident had sparked concern among residents, especially as kidnapping cases continue to generate public anxiety in parts of the country.
Security operatives were said to have traced the victims to the hideout before securing their release.
The demolition is believed to be part of the state government’s response to criminal activities and its effort to discourage the use of residential buildings as hideouts by kidnappers and other criminal groups.
The state government has yet to issue a detailed official statement on the demolition as of the time of filing this report.
However, the presence of government officials and police operatives at the scene confirmed that the building was being pulled down under official supervision.
