The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has firmly rejected any suggestion that Governor Caleb Mutfwang may defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to affix its ranks.
At a stakeholders’ assembly held on Friday at Crest Hotel in Jos, prime APC figures, together with National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda and former Governor Simon Lalong, unanimously voted in opposition to admitting Mutfwang ought to he contemplate crossing over.
The assembly, attended by senior get together members resembling former Deputy Speaker Idris Wase, former Governor Joshua Dariye, ex-Minister Pauline Tallen, and different stakeholders, ended with a collective decision rejecting any transfer to welcome the governor.
Yilwatda, who misplaced the 2023 governorship election to Mutfwang, invited former APC Deputy National Secretary Festus Fuanter to maneuver the movement.
“Let me ask Hon. Festus Fuanter, who shares my sentiment, to lead us in moving a motion,” he stated.
Fuanter’s movement asking whether or not members would settle for Mutfwang into the APC was met with a convincing “No” from attendees.

“We don’t want anybody coming to our party. You do your thing, and we’ll do ours,” Fuanter declared.
He added that the APC was united and able to “win the 2027 elections decisively” with out counting on defectors.
In response, Governor Mutfwang’s spokesperson, Gyang Bere, dismissed the claims as unfounded.
“To whom did the governor make an attempt to join them? Who among the APC members did Mutfwang approach to join the party?” he requested, as quoted by Daily Trust, including that the governor remained targeted on serving Plateau folks.
Similarly, the PDP’s Southern Zonal Chairman, Hon. Simon Domle, described the APC’s assertion as “an empty claim that will not happen.”
According to him, “Plateau has PDP as its political inheritance. The governor is not moving anywhere.”
