Police Arraign Three Suspects Over Jungle Justice Incident In Ebonyi

The Ebonyi State Police Command has arraigned three suspects in connection with the recent mob attack on a woman at the International Market in Abakaliki, the state capital.

The suspects have been identified as Nwokedi Charles, Ekwunife Chidubem, and Okpala Chiamaka. The details were contained in a press statement issued on Thursday by the Ebonyi Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Joshua Ukandu.

Ukandu said the Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State Command, Hope Okafor, had strongly condemned the barbaric act and immediately directed a thorough, diligent, and impartial investigation into the incident.

A total of 13 suspects were initially arrested during the investigation into the mob attack. The victim had been accused of abducting three children before the crowd turned on her. Following the conclusion of the preliminary investigation, the three primary suspects were charged to court for their alleged involvement.

The Command reiterated its uncompromising stance against jungle justice and all forms of self-help.

Members of the public are strongly urged to report suspected offenders to the police rather than resorting to lawless mob action.

The Command further warned that anyone found engaging in jungle justice will be arrested and face the full wrath of the law.
