The Lagos State Police Command has announced massive deployment of security personnel across the state ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir and Children’s Day celebrations.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Tijani Fatai, ordered the deployment of officers to worship centres, highways, motor parks, recreation centres, critical infrastructure and other strategic locations to ensure adequate security during the festive period.
According to a statement on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the deployment followed directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, aimed at ensuring safety at Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres and other vulnerable points across the state.

The command said Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders, Police Mobile Force personnel, Counter Terrorism Units, Explosive Ordnance Disposal operatives and Traffic Officers had been directed to intensify visibility policing and strengthen anti-crime measures in their respective jurisdictions.
The police also said operatives would focus on crowd control, traffic management and security along highways, linking roads, entry and exit points, city centres and other strategic areas.
Fatai warned officers deployed for the assignment to remain professional, civil and courteous in carrying out their duties.
The police commissioner also congratulated Muslim faithful on the Eid-el-Kabir celebration and extended greetings to children in the state as the 2026 Children’s Day coincides with the Sallah festivities.
He advised children and youths to stay away from violence, crime and other unlawful activities, urging them to embrace positive values and remain security conscious.
Fatai further urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or incidents to the nearest police station.
He also called on travellers and motorists to cooperate with security personnel stationed across highways and other locations to ensure a peaceful and orderly celebration.
