The Lagos State Police Command has begun an investigation into the delivery of a suspicious parcel containing live ammunition to the home of the Managing Director of First Bank of Nigeria, Oluwasegun Alebiosu.
According to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, the parcel, which contained live ammunition, was delivered to the banker’s residence on May 7, 2026.
The Lagos CP described the parcel as a serious security issue and assured that those behind it would be arrested.
According to him, the parcel was initially handed over to the bank’s chief security officer, who later delivered it to the Managing Director.
After opening the parcel, the bank chief reportedly discovered two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition carefully packaged inside.

Speaking with newsmen during a conference at the State Police Command headquarters in Ikeja on Tuesday, CP Tijani said: “Detectives immediately commenced investigations after receiving the report and are working to determine the origin of the parcel, identify those responsible, and establish whether the incident was intended as a threat or linked to any criminal activity.”
CP Tijani further narrated: “The Managing Director reported the matter to the police after discovering two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition in a parcel collected on his behalf.

“The case is still under investigation, and we are treating it with the seriousness it deserves.”
He disclosed that no arrest had been made as of Tuesday afternoon but noted that the bank chief had provided useful information on the likely origin of the parcel.
“Right now, forensic and intelligence-driven investigations are ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the delivery and bring anyone found culpable to justice,” he added.
