The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the posting of Commissioner of Police Edwin Ogbegbagha as the new Commissioner of Police for the Taraba State Command.
The approval followed an interview session held at the Commission’s headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, and presided over by its Chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (retd).
The Commission charged Ogbegbagha to maintain professionalism and neutrality in the discharge of his duties, particularly as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections.
The PSC stressed the importance of impartiality, professionalism and public safety in the conduct of policing operations during the electoral period.
Ogbegbagha, who has more than 25 years of policing experience, was until his new posting the Force Provost Marshal at Force Headquarters, Abuja, a position he assumed in March 2026.
He has also served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations in Zones 8 and 17, Area Commander in Enugu, Abia and Anambra states, and Commissioner of Police in charge of Community Policing at Force Headquarters.
The new Taraba police commissioner holds a BSc (Hons) degree from the University of Ibadan and has participated in United Nations peacekeeping missions in Kosovo between 2000 and 2002 and Darfur, Sudan, between 2013 and 2016.
The approval and posting process also involved PSC Commissioner I, Hon. Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (retd), and the Commission’s Secretary, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani.
