Russian President Vladimir Putin has spoken by phone with US counterpart Donald Trump and discussed the situation in Ukraine ahead of a NATO summit in Ankara, the Kremlin said.
“The presidents naturally addressed the issue of a settlement in Ukraine, taking into account, in particular, Donald Trump’s upcoming participation in the NATO summit in Türkiye on July 7 and 8,” said Yuri Ushakov, the Kremlin’s foreign policy aide.
Trump, speaking to Putin by telephone for nearly 90 minutes, offered to help find a solution to the Ukraine war, Ushakov said.
Ushakov said Trump made the offer in the context of his participation next week at the NATO summit in Türkiye.
