Real Madrid continued their perfect start to the La Liga season with a convincing 4-0 victory over newly promoted Malaga at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday.
Jude Bellingham opened the scoring with a brilliant solo effort before Malaga goalkeeper Alfonso Herrero turned the ball into his own net. Kylian Mbappe added a third before half-time, while substitute Arda Guler completed the rout in stoppage time.
The victory moved Real Madrid to nine points from three matches, two points ahead of Atletico Madrid and Alaves. Barcelona, who have six points from two games, can close the gap when they host Rayo Vallecano on Monday.
Jose Mourinho made five changes to the side that defeated Real Sociedad in midweek, with Marc Cucurella making his first start for the club.
Trent Alexander-Arnold almost gave Madrid an early lead inside the opening minute, curling an effort narrowly wide of the far post.
Malaga responded in the 15th minute when Joaquin Munoz fired a right-footed effort from the edge of the box narrowly over the target, but the visitors’ resistance soon ended.

Bellingham put Madrid ahead in the 19th minute after collecting a loose ball near the edge of the penalty area. The England midfielder surged past three defenders before firing a low finish beneath Herrero.
Madrid doubled their advantage seven minutes later after Herrero failed to hold Mbappe’s effort. Bellingham headed the rebound towards goal, with the goalkeeper and a teammate colliding as they attempted to clear, sending the ball into the net.
Mbappe made it 3-0 in the 30th minute, producing an excellent volley from the centre of the box after meeting Alexander-Arnold’s cross.
Madrid reduced the intensity after the break but came close to adding another goal in the 55th minute when Bellingham struck the post from inside the area.
The second half appeared to be winding down without further damage for Malaga until Guler came off the bench and completed a swift attacking move in added time.
The Turkish midfielder exchanged passes with Vinicius Junior before receiving the Brazilian’s return ball and calmly finishing to seal Madrid’s fourth goal.
Real Madrid will return to La Liga action on Friday with an away trip to Seville to face Real Betis before beginning their Champions League campaign against Inter Milan.
