The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has urged the Federal Government to release the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
Speaking to members of his congregation in a video, Ayodele questioned the continued detention of Kanu while Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi remains free.
According to the cleric, the government should apply the same standard to both men if it intends to demonstrate fairness and seriousness in handling security-related matters.
“The Nigerian government should release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Since you keep Kanu in prison, why can’t you keep Sheikh Gumi in prison too?” he said.
“You keep Nnamdi Kanu, but Gumi is free. Then, how do you want to manage the government?”
Ayodele further argued that if Kanu remains in detention, the authorities should also take similar action against Gumi.
“If Nnamdi Kanu is there, then go and take Gumi. Then Nigerians will believe that the government is serious. Protest will seize this Tinubu government,” he warned.
