Pakistan’s Minister for Climate Change, Musadik Malik, warned that Islamabad would strongly defend its share of water under the Indus Waters Treaty. Speaking alongside Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Malik accused India of trying to control the flow of water to Pakistan.

According to reports, Malik claimed that if Pakistan’s water rights were threatened, there would be serious consequences. Referring to India’s reported stance on restricting water flow, he said, “We will cut those hands that claim our share of water.” Videos of the statement have gone viral on social media, although they have not been independently verified.

The latest remarks come months after India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty following the Pahalgam terror attack in 2025. India blamed Pakistan-backed terrorists for the attack and later launched Operation Sindoor in response.
