A Nigerian lady has sparked reactions online after sharing her experience with a neighbour who allegedly damaged her blender and later returned to ask for another one.
The story was shared on Facebook by Nkechinyere Cecilia Mbanaso, where she narrated the incident and asked if she overreacted in handling it.
How the Incident Started
According to her, the neighbour had approached her for help after her own blender stopped working while grinding tomatoes and out of kindness, she lent her blender without hesitation.
However, things reportedly went wrong when the neighbour used it to grind hard items like tiger nuts and coconut, which eventually caused the blender to burn out.
Blender Returned Without Admission of Fault
She explained that the blender was later returned without any explanation about the damage. She only discovered the fault when she tried to use it and realized it was no longer working.
When she confronted the neighbour, she said the woman denied damaging it and insisted she had only used it briefly before power was interrupted.
Truth Revealed by Child
The situation reportedly became clearer when the neighbour’s 5-year-old daughter allegedly told her own child that her mother had used the blender to grind tiger nuts and coconut until the coil got burnt.
New Blender
Despite the incident, the lady said she eventually purchased a stronger blender. However, she was shocked when the same neighbour came back again to request to borrow it.
Instead, she handed over the old damaged blender, which the neighbour had previously broken.
In her words:
“There is my neighbour that has the habit of begging especially if she sees you using something that she can’t afford to buy she will want to beg you for it so as to use it too.
Last 2 months, she came begging me for blender… I gave her my blender only for her to use it and blend tiger nut instead of the tomatoes she said and the blender got burnt.
She packaged it and brought it back without telling me it has spoiled… she denied it.
It was her 5-year-old daughter that later told my daughter that her mummy spoiled it while grinding tiger nut and coconut until it started smelling burnt.
Finally I bought a new stronger blender. Only for her to come again asking to borrow it. I brought out the one she spoiled and gave her.
Her shame and anger was raised to power 100. I just turned my back and went inside my house.
