A supermarket manager has received praise after risking his life to save a three-year-old girl from an approaching vehicle in Mexico.
The incident happened outside the El Rey del Ahorro supermarket in Puebla on Sunday, September 6, 2026.
CCTV footage showed the girl suddenly running away from two adults and entering the busy road.
Shop manager Luis Enrique Cruz, 34, noticed the danger while moving goods outside the supermarket.
He immediately dropped his work and ran after the child.
A silver vehicle was approaching as Cruz reached the girl. He grabbed her and rolled onto the road with her, narrowly avoiding the vehicle.
Cruz then carried the child back to the adults standing near the shop.
The girl did not appear to suffer any injuries.
Cruz appeared to limp slightly after the rescue. He later returned to the equipment he had been using and continued working.
He said he acted without thinking because he wanted to protect the child.
The supermarket praised Cruz for his bravery and named him its Manager of the Year.
Reports said the company also rewarded him with 20,000 Mexican pesos, worth about $1,180.
The rescue video has attracted attention online, with many people praising Cruz for responding quickly.
