A Visual Arts student from the 2026 graduating class of Adu Gyamfi Senior High School (SHS) has reportedly died after drowning at a hotel pool party organised for SHS leavers in Jamasi.
The student, identified as Daniel, is reported to have drowned on Saturday, June 20, 2026, allegedly due to his lack of swimming experience.
Reports indicate that the event was an annual programme organised by the hotel and the school was not aware of the gathering.
The school’s Assistant Headmaster in charge of Administration reportedly confirmed that the school had no knowledge of the event.
Daniel’s body has been deposited at Pope John Paul Mortuary in Jamasi, while the police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
The incident has raised concerns about safety measures at recreational events involving young people, especially around swimming pools.
