At least six people have been confirmed k!lled, while three others sustained injuries, following separate att@cks in which gunmen suspected to be Fulani t3rrorists laid siege on various communities in Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas of Plateau State.
The Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM) confirmed the incidents in a statement issued on Monday, signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Rwang Tengwong.
According to the group, the att@cks took place on Saturday in Ta-Hoss, Riyom, and Sabon Layi, Barkin Ladi, with a further att@ck occurring in Kwi district of Riyom in the early hours of Sunday.
Tengwong described the att@cks as unprovoked and part of an ongoing campaign of terror directed at Christian communities in the state, especially in Riyom and Barkin Ladi.
He condemned the continued siege on Berom land by armed bandits and urged security agencies to fulfil their responsibilities by driving the att@ckers out of the affected areas.
The association, led by Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, strongly denounced what it called a fresh wave of coordinated att@cks carried out by armed Fulani t3rrorists, which left six innocent people d£ad and one woman critically injured.
These att@cks occurred separately in Ta-Hoss (Riyom LG) and Sabon Layi (Barkin Ladi LG) on Saturday, July 4, 2026, and in Kwi (Riyom LG) in the early hours of Sunday, July 5, 2026.
BYM gave further details of the incidents, stating that at about 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, armed Fulani t3rrorists operating from the Bangai axis att@cked farmers working on their farmland at Rinyan Village in the Ta-Hoss Community, Riyom LG.
The att@ckers shot d£ad Hudung Luka, aged 40, and left Ladi Istifanus, aged 50, critically injured.
Later that same night, t3rrorists invaded the Sabon Layi Community in Barkin Ladi LG, brutally k!lling Sunday, aged 25, Benjamin James, aged 33, and Godwin Yakubu, aged 27.
In the early hours of Sunday, the t3rrorists struck again, k!lling Peter Bulus in Kwi Village, Riyom LG.
The association stressed that these att@cks were not isolated but part of a persistent pattern of violence deliberately targeting innocent civilians, farmers, and rural communities.
It noted that the repeated k!llings continue to instil fear, displace families, and threaten the livelihoods of the Berom people.
BYM further expressed deep concern over recent security intelligence reports suggesting that armed Fulani t3rrorists are allegedly camped in various locations across Plateau State in preparation for coordinated att@cks on vulnerable communities.
The group described this development as disturbing and called for immediate intelligence-driven security operations to identify, dismantle, and neutralise these camps before more innocent lives are lost, insisting that security agencies must act proactively rather than merely responding after att@cks have already occurred.
