Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Igboho Adeyemo has denied claims that he played a role in the rescue of three members of the Adelabu family who were abducted in Oyo State.
In a statement, Igboho said reports linking him to the operation were false and misleading.
According to him, the rescue was carried out by security operatives who tracked the kidnappers to their hideout, rescued the victims and arrested suspects connected to the crime.
He stressed that the credit for the successful operation should go entirely to the security agencies involved.
“The operation was carried out by security personnel who tracked down the kidnappers’ hideout, rescued the victims and arrested suspects linked to the abduction,” the statement indicated.
Naijaonpoint reports that Igboho’s clarification followed comments attributed to media personality Rufai Oseni, who reportedly linked him to the rescue effort.
The activist rejected the claim and urged members of the public to rely on verified information regarding the incident.
The victims, who are relatives of former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu, were recently rescued during a police operation in Oyo State.
The rescue generated widespread attention and renewed discussions about security operations in the South-West.
The successful operation has been welcomed by residents and public officials, many of whom commended security agencies for securing the victims’ freedom.
