Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali has completed a return to South African side Chippa United ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The 30-year-old returns to the Chilli Boys after spending the past seven months out of competitive football, a period that impacted his international career and cost him his place in Nigeria’s senior national team.
Chippa United announced the goalkeeper’s return on Sunday through its official social media channels, expressing delight at welcoming him back to the Eastern Cape.
The club wrote: “Chippa United Football Club is delighted to welcome @nwabali32 back to the Chilli Boys.”
In a follow-up statement, the club added: “After taking time away, Stanley Nwabali returns to the Eastern Cape, and we are pleased to welcome him back to the club.”
Nwabali, who joined Chippa United from Katsina United in 2022, rose to prominence after playing a key role in Nigeria’s run to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final. However, he had been without a club following his departure, a situation that also impacted his place in the Super Eagles squad.
