An uneasy reality returned after United States President Donald Trump declared that one thousand missiles are already locked, loaded and aimed at Iran, while warning that thousands more would immediately follow if the Iranian government attempts to assassinate him.
In a message posted late on July 10 through Truth Social, Trump claimed the orders had already been given and said the United States military is prepared to sustain such an operation for one year, with the possibility of extending it if necessary, adding that Iran would be completely destroyed if the alleged assassination threat became reality.
He ended the statement with the phrase Praise be to Allah, a sign off he has used before in comments relating to Iran, ensuring that the message immediately became one of the most talked about developments around the world.
The statement comes after growing reports that Iranian officials and religious figures have continued to issue calls for revenge following the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
It also follows intelligence reportedly shared by Israel with Washington alleging that Iran had developed plans to target Trump, although United States officials have previously said such intelligence still requires independent verification.
