Iran congratulated White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on the birth of her daughter, but Tehran’s congratulatory message also contained a tragic reference to the Minab school bombing that killed more than 160 schoolgirls when a US ‘double-tap’ missile strike leveled the institution on February 28.
On Thursday, Karoline Leavitt announced the birth of her second child, a baby girl named Viviana. “On May 1st, Viviana aka “Vivi” joined our family, and our hearts instantly exploded with love. She is perfect and healthy, and her big brother is joyfully adjusting to life with his new baby sister. We are enjoying every moment in our blissful newborn bubble,” she posted on X.
“Thank you to everyone who reached out with prayers during my pregnancy – I truly felt them throughout the entire experience. God is Good,” Leavitt added.
What Iran said in congratulatory message to Leavitt?
Replying to Leavitt’s post, the Iranian embassy in Armenia congratulated the White House Press Secretary on the birth of her child, but also reminded her how she “justified” the killing of 168 schoolgirls in Minab, who were killed on the orders of her “boss”, referring to US President Donald Trump.
“Congratulations to you. Children are innocent and lovable. Those 168 children that your boss killed in the school in Minab, and you justified, were also children. When you kiss your baby, think of the mothers of those children,” the embassy wrote.
Leavitt had not responded to the Iranian embassy’s post when this report was filed.
How Minab school strike unfolded?
On February 28, Shajareh Tayebeh Girls School in Minab city was among the first locations targeted in the joint US-Israeli strikes across Iran that triggered the ongoing conflict. According to Iranian state media, occurred during class hours, when hundreds of girl students, aged 7 to 12, were present at the school.
The lethal strike completely devastated the school premises, killing more than 180 civilians, majority of them underaged school children, including 73 boys and 47 girls. The victims also included 26 teachers, seven parents, a school bus driver, and a pharmacy technician at the clinic next to the school .

What US said about Minab school strike?
While Trump and his administration initially denied that a US missile had struck the school, with Trump even claiming it as a “false flag” attack by the Iranians, investigations by US media organisations later revealed that the school was hit by a US Tomahawk cruise missile.
Following the outrage, officials asserted the US never intentionally targets civilian facilities like schools and hospitals, and the matter is being investigated. Later, several US officials acknowledged that the that the attack may have been part of a US military operation, though results of the investigation are pending.
Trump administration officials, including Karoline Leavitt had denied the strike despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, asserting that the US does not target civilians.
