According to global satellite tracking data and reports linked to the Indian Space Research Organisation, satellite deployment has increased rapidly over the past decade due to advancements in commercial space technology, military surveillance, communication systems and internet-based satellite networks.
United States leads the world

The United States currently has more than 8530 active satellites in space, making it the global leader by a wide margin. A large portion of these satellites belongs to private companies, especially the Starlink network, which alone operates over 7400 satellites in low Earth orbit. Rapid expansion by private space companies has significantly increased the gap between the US and other countries.
Russia and China in second and third place

China has significantly expanded its space infrastructure in recent years through military satellites, communication systems, navigation networks and Earth observation programs.
United Kingdom and Japan in top five

The United Kingdom holds the fourth position with approximately 763 active satellites in space. Japan follows in fifth place with around 203 satellites. Both countries have strengthened their presence in space technology, focusing mainly on communication and scientific satellite systems.
