Former presidential aide and political commentator, Reno Omokri, has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed him as Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to four countries in Central and South America.
Omokri made the disclosure while responding to a follower on his Facebook page amid discussions surrounding diplomatic appointments recently announced by the Federal Government.
According to him, his case differs significantly from that of other appointees because his diplomatic posting involves simultaneous service across four countries, each with its own leadership and approval process.
Explaining the situation, Omokri said the nature of his appointment comes with additional diplomatic procedures, especially as approvals must be secured from multiple foreign governments before the process can be concluded.
“His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, chose to nominate me as an Ambassador to serve concurrently in four countries in Central and South America. Therefore, the processes involved for me, as an envoy to four different nations with four different Presidents, differ from those of others.”
Omokri’s comments came in response to a social media user identified as Kachi, who appeared to compare his appointment timeline with that of Professor Yakubu, another ambassadorial appointee.
Reacting, Omokri dismissed any suggestion of rivalry or competition. He stated that he does not subscribe to a mindset built around comparing personal progress with that of others.
He stressed that his life philosophy is rooted in purpose, patience, and contentment rather than competition or envy.
“I don’t come from a ‘See your mate’ culture. So, what happens with others does not determine my actions. I come from a tradition where other people’s successes and progress do not stimulate in me contest, competition, rivalry, envy, or jealousy,” he declared.
Omokri further noted that everyone’s journey is unique and should not be measured against another person’s achievements.
“God created me and sent me to this world for a purpose. And that destiny is a standalone fate, and has nothing to do with the doings or achievements of other people.”
While acknowledging that Professor Yakubu had been posted to what he described as a highly influential country, Omokri maintained that he remains comfortable with his assignment and confident in the timing of events.
He added that his focus remains on fulfilling his responsibilities and trusting the process.
“I am content with where I am and satisfied with whatever doors it pleases God to open for me at whatever time. That has been the way of my ancestors, and it is that way of life I am passing to my own lineage,” Omokri concluded.
Reaffirming his position, Omokri insisted that he remains grateful for his current opportunities and is not under pressure to measure success by the standards of others.
“But the main thing is that I am not from a ‘See your mate’ background, and as long as I put in my best effort, I am very satisfied with where God has placed me at any given time.”
