Tinubu chairs FEC meeting after nearly two-month break

President Bola Tinubu is presiding over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council at the State House in Abuja, his first council meeting since June 29, 2026.

The meeting commenced with the national anthem shortly after Tinubu arrived at the Council Chamber at about 2:30pm to chair the session.

Those attending include the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Ministers, presidential aides and heads of government agencies are also participating in the meeting.

The council observed a minute’s silence in honour of Abubakar Alhaji, a former Minister of Finance under the Ibrahim Babangida administration, who died on July 30, 2026.

Members also paid tribute to former Minister of Science and Technology under the Olusegun Obasanjo administration, Professor Turner Isoun, who died on July 15.

At its previous meeting on June 29, Tinubu swore in two newly appointed Federal Commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission before the council session began.

They were Amina Gamawa, representing Bauchi State, and Abdullahi Mukhtar, representing Kaduna State.

The latest FEC meeting comes as the administration continues deliberations on key economic, security and governance issues.
