Murtala Garo was congratulated by President Bola Tinubu on taking the oath of office as Kano State’s new deputy governor.
As previously reported by PUNCH Online, Garo was sworn in by Governor Abba Yusuf on Tuesday after being nominated to fill the position left by Aminu Gwarzo’s retirement.
The President praised Yusuf for Garo’s appointment and described it as a step that enhances unity among the All Progressives Congress in Kano State in a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Tinubu urged the state’s stakeholders to support the governor and his deputy in order to guarantee efficient governance and wished Garoi success in his new position.
According to the statement, “the President urged all stakeholders to unite behind the governor and his deputy, providing them with full support and cooperation.”
In order to provide effective governance and hasten the state’s development, he also counseled the newly appointed deputy governor to collaborate closely with the governor.
The statement went on, “The President urged the new deputy governor to work assiduously alongside the governor to provide the leadership needed to accelerate the state’s development.”
Garo has held a number of official positions, such as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs under former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and Chairman of Kabo Local Government Area.
In the 2023 general election, the 48-year-old was the APC’s running mate for governor.
