Tinubu congratulates new Kano deputy governor Murtala Garo

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Murtala Sule Garo on his swearing-in as the new Deputy Governor of Kano State.

SolaceBase had reported that Garo was sworn in on Tuesday by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf following his nomination to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President commended Yusuf for Garo’s appointment, describing it as a move that strengthens unity within the All Progressives Congress in Kano State.

Tinubu wished Garo success in his new role and called on stakeholders in the state to rally behind the governor and his deputy to ensure effective governance.

“The President urged all stakeholders to unite behind the governor and his deputy, providing them with full support and cooperation,” the statement read.

He further advised the new deputy governor to work closely with the governor to deliver good governance and accelerate development in the state.

“The President urged the new deputy governor to work assiduously alongside the governor to provide the leadership needed to accelerate the state’s development,” the statement added.

Garo has held several public offices, including Chairman of Kabo Local Government Area and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs under former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

The 48-year-old also served as the APC governorship running mate in the 2023 general election.
