Tinubu has done his part on insecurity – Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has defended President Bola Tinubu against criticism that he is not doing enough to tackle insecurity in Nigeria.

Speaking at the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala in Washington, Adeboye said the President has fulfilled his duty by giving instructions to security agencies and should not be expected to personally fight criminals.

According to him, once a commander-in-chief issues orders to the military, he has done his part. He compared the situation to world leaders such as the US president, who gives military orders without going to the battlefield.

Despite defending Tinubu, Adeboye expressed concern over the worsening security situation in the country. He said terrorism, kidnapping and other crimes have spread from northern Nigeria to the southern parts of the country.

He revealed that he had discussed the issue with President Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu.

During the discussion, he advised the President to give military commanders a 90-day deadline to eliminate terrorist activities or resign from their positions.

Adeboye also called on the government to target those funding terrorism. He said many of the sponsors are known individuals, including wealthy businessmen and politicians, who continue to move around freely.

According to him, defeating terrorism requires not only confronting the criminals carrying out attacks but also going after those supplying them with weapons, ammunition and financial support.

The cleric further urged the United States and other countries to support Nigeria in its fight against terrorism and insecurity.
