Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, a former vice presidential candidate for the Labour Party, has sparked new political discussion by asserting that the Tinubu/Shettima administration has damaged Islam’s reputation worldwide.
Speaking at a Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) gathering in Abuja, Baba-Ahmed stated that speaking up was challenging but essential. “Pay close attention. He said, “It’s difficult for me to say this, but it has to be said.”
He maintained that under the current administration, Islam’s standing had deteriorated globally. He said that Muslim-led countries have historically experienced “peace, tranquillity, and justice.” “The world of Islam has never suffered reputational d@mage like it has under the Tinubu-Shettima presidency,” he stated.
He made analogies between dictators like Saddam Hussein and Muammar Gaddafi, pointing out that despite their shortcomings, they accomplished significant human development. “They have set records that have not yet been surpassed, aside from the human rights ab •sees,” he said.
Baba-Ahmed maintained that his remarks were focused on leadership qualities rather than religious motivations. “If you are bringing a Christian, we want a true Christian; this is not about religion.” We want a true Muslim if you are bringing one,” he stated.
