President Bola Tinubu on Monday swore in Mr Joseph Tegbe as Minister of Power and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
The brief ceremony took place at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, in the presence of senior government officials and family members of the new ministers.
Their inauguration followed the resignation of former Power Minister, Adebayo Adelabu, and former Foreign Affairs Minister, Yusuf Tuggar, who stepped down to pursue elective offices ahead of the All Progressives Congress primaries.
The two men were nominated by the President on May 5 and confirmed by the Senate a day later.
Enikanolaiye, a career diplomat with more than three decades in Nigeria’s foreign service, previously served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations.
He also served in diplomatic missions in Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London and New Delhi, and later rose to become Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before retiring from service.
Tegbe, an engineer and management consultant, brings more than 35 years of experience across the public and private sectors.
Before his appointment, he served as Director-General and Global Liaison of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership and had worked with several public institutions and multinational organisations, including KPMG Africa, the Nigerian Communications Commission and the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission.
The appointments form part of recent changes in the Federal Executive Council following the resignation of ministers seeking elective positions ahead of the 2027 political season.
Tinubu first constituted his cabinet in August 2023 and has since carried out a series of reshuffles and replacements across key ministries.
