Tinubu Will Win Despite Poor Performance – APC Chieftain, Yusuf

An All Progressives Congress chieftain, Senator Abubakar Yusuf, has boasted that President Bola Tinubu will win the 2027 election, despite the incumbent government’s poor performance.

Speaking in an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics programme, the former federal lawmaker stated that the president will clinch his re-election bid because there is no opposition to challenge him.

He asserted that he does not see the opposition politicians working together to unseat Tinubu’s government.

“APC will win in 2027, not because President Tinubu has done well, but because there is no opposition. There is no challenge in the opposition. Individually, they are very credible, but as a team, I don’t see them working together for the opposition. Tinubu will more likely win in the 2027 election,” Yusuf stated.

He said the ruling party was not “jittery” about the opposition due to its lack of unity among the opposition leaders.

He, however, cautioned President Bola Tinubu against depending on the support from APC governors ahead of the 2027 election, arguing that many of them lack real popularity with voters.

Yusuf also warned that “implosions” could trigger “internal party conflicts,” especially around candidate selection, and could weaken the APC if not properly managed.

APC is not jittery because we don’t have a challenge. Who is challenging us? What the APC will be worried about is an intra-party crisis, because there might be implosions if care is not taken. If they insist on an automatic ticket, they will lose a lot of people to other political parties. There will be implosions if they refuse to allow free and fair elections.

“Tinubu must stand firm and not rely on these governors are coming in

“There are so many of these governors who are not popular,” he said.
