Tom Cruise, (born July 3, 1962) is an American actor and film producer. He is regarded as a Hollywood icon and has garnered numerous accolades, including an Honorary Palme d’Or, an Academy Honorary Award, three Golden Globes, and four competitive Academy Award nominations.

Thomas Cruise Mapother IV was born on July 3, 1962, in Syracuse, New York, to electrical engineer Thomas Cruise Mapother III (1934-1984) and special education teacher Mary Lee (1936-2017). His parents hailed from Louisville, Kentucky, and had English, German, and Irish ancestry.
Cruise has three sisters: Lee Anne, Marian, and Cass. One of his cousins, William Mapother, is an actor who has worked with Cruise in five films.
Cruise attended fifteen schools throughout fourteen years. He went to the new Robert Hopkins Public School for fourth and fifth grades. In sixth grade, Cruise attended Henry Munro Middle School in Ottawa.
