Tottenham Hotspur have rejected a €30 million offer from Inter Milan for Djed Spence, with negotiations continuing over a possible move to Serie A.
Spurs are reportedly seeking €35 million plus bonuses for the England international, despite initially valuing the right-back at around €45 million.
Inter have identified Spence as their preferred replacement for Denzel Dumfries and are keen to complete the transfer before the new season gets underway.
Inter push to close Spence deal
Football Italia reports the two clubs held further discussions on Wednesday as they attempt to bridge the difference in their valuations.
According to reports from Italy, Inter have proposed a package worth €30 million, but Tottenham have indicated they could accept a deal worth €35 million before additional bonuses are included.
Personal terms are reportedly already in place between Spence and the Italian club, leaving the transfer fee as the main obstacle to an agreement.
Inter’s pursuit of the 25-year-old has gained momentum after alternative targets Marco Palestra and Khalaili became unavailable.
Palestra joined Chelsea, while Khalaili’s proposed move was reportedly complicated by a medical issue.
Inter consider player sales
Inter’s ability to meet Tottenham’s asking price could depend on their efforts to raise funds through player departures.
Luis Henrique is attracting interest from Roma and is valued at approximately €30 million, while Davide Frattesi is reportedly close to joining Lazio on a paid loan with an obligation to buy.
Completing either deal would provide Inter with additional financial flexibility and potentially create space within Cristian Chivu’s squad for Spence.
