Troops of the 12 Brigade have arrested a suspected bandits’ ammunition courier along the Obajana–Lokoja road in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The suspect, Yahaya Umar, was apprehended following credible intelligence on an arms and ammunition syndicate operating in the North Central region.
He was intercepted while allegedly transporting 500 rounds of 7.62mm NATO belted ammunition concealed in a bag of maize to evade security checks.

Military sources said preliminary investigations indicate he is a logistics courier for terrorist groups operating across several states.
He reportedly collected the ammunition at Obajana Forest and was en route to Dikko Junction in Suleja, Niger State, for delivery to a suspected terrorist contact.
The Nigerian Army says the suspect is in custody and under interrogation, while efforts continue to dismantle the network and arrest other members of the syndicate.
