Troops of Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA have recovered and safely disposed of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by terrorists along a major access route in Zamfara State.

The IED was discovered on Thursday, August 27, along the Gurusu-Gwashi Road in Bukkuyum Local Government Area following credible intelligence.

The military said troops of Sector 2 swiftly responded to reports of the explosive device and secured the area to protect motorists and other road users.

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team subsequently safely disposed of the IED.

Following the operation, troops intensified patrols across the area to prevent terrorists from gaining freedom of movement and action.

The Joint Task Force said the operation underscored its commitment to protecting lives, securing critical routes and countering the evolving tactics of terrorist groups in the North-West.

It urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious objects or activities to security agencies.

The task force said timely information remained critical to preventing attacks and enhancing public safety.
