Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued four kidnap victims during ongoing operations targeting a notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Muhammadu Fulani, and members of his gang in Katsina State.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, who said the rescue was achieved through sustained military operations in areas where the criminals are believed to be operating.
The rescued victims were identified as Musa Yakuba, 62; Alhaji Sa’adu Dayi, 68; Mukhtar Danja, 36; and Salisu Danja, 50.
According to the statement, the victims were freed during ongoing security operations aimed at tracking and apprehending the bandit kingpin and his associates.
The ministry said medical personnel immediately attended to the victims after their rescue, as they had sustained gunshot wounds while in captivity.
It recalled that the wife of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar had earlier been rescued by security operatives, noting that the newly rescued victims were among those seen in a photograph with the late military officer.

The Katsina State Government commended the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for what it described as their bravery, professionalism and dedication in the fight against insecurity.
“Their relentless efforts continue to yield positive results in the fight against banditry and kidnapping across the state,” the statement said.

The government assured residents that security forces remain on the trail of Kachalla Muhammadu Fulani and other criminal elements operating in the state.
The ministry stressed that ongoing operations would continue until all those responsible for acts of terror against innocent citizens are apprehended and brought to justice.
It further reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s administration to safeguarding lives and property, saying the government would continue to work closely with security agencies to deny criminals safe haven anywhere in Katsina State.
