Trump clashes with Republican Senator, engages in shouting match, calls him ‘lunatic’ due to…, what exactly happened?

A private lunch meeting between US President Donald Trump and Republican Senator Bill Cassidy turned into a heated argument on Wednesday, according to CNN. The confrontation reportedly centered on the administration’s handling of the Iran war and a recent Senate vote aimed at limiting the president’s war powers.

The meeting took place at the US Capitol with Republican senators. According to reports, Trump was upset over a Senate vote held a day earlier that sought to curb his authority in military matters related to Iran. Sources described the discussion as “very intense,” with the Iran issue dominating the conversation.

Why Did Trump and Cassidy Argue?

The clash began when Trump questioned Republican senators about why some of them supported the War Powers resolution. Cassidy, who voted in favor of the measure, said he tried to ask the president questions about the conflict.

Speaking to reporters afterward, Cassidy said Trump repeatedly interrupted him and did not want to hear his concerns. The Louisiana senator said he wanted answers about the administration’s strategy in Iran and believed the American public deserved more information.

According to Cassidy, he told Trump that the conflict was expected to last only a few weeks but had continued for several months, while key objectives had still not been achieved.

How Did the Meeting Turn Into a Shouting Match?

The report said both men raised their voices during the exchange. Cassidy admitted that he lost his temper and responded to Trump in the same tone and volume.

The senator later said colleagues seated nearby urged him to calm down and sit down, which he eventually did. Despite acknowledging his outburst, Cassidy defended his actions, saying he was standing up for the American people and demanding greater transparency from the administration.

What Happened After the Confrontation?

According to CNN, Trump told Cassidy to sit down and reportedly called him a “lunatic” during the exchange. Cassidy did not deny the claim when asked by reporters.

The confrontation comes weeks after Trump backed Cassidy’s Republican primary challenger, effectively ending the senator’s congressional career. Since then, Cassidy has become one of Trump’s most outspoken critics within the Republican Party.
