While the naval mission carries a warning that interference will be “dealt with forcefully,” the focus shifted toward the potential for a diplomatic breakthrough.
Trump described the move as a goodwill gesture on behalf of the US and Middle Eastern countries, specifically including Iran in the effort.
The US president instructed his representatives to inform nations that their trapped vessels will be guided to safety and will not return until the area is deemed safe for navigation.
