U.S. President Donald Trump has criticised a recent House of Representatives vote aimed at limiting his war powers, describing the move as “meaningless” and accusing both Democrats and a handful of Republicans of undermining ongoing negotiations with Iran.
In a post shared on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the House voted to restrict his authority in the midst of what he described as the final stages of negotiations to end hostilities with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“Yesterday, in a meaningless vote, the House voted, 4 bad Republicans and all of the Democrats, to limit my War Powers, right in the middle of my final negotiations to end the War with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Trump wrote.
The president questioned the motives of lawmakers who supported the measure, arguing that they were fully aware of the status of the negotiations and suggesting political considerations were behind their actions.

Trump also renewed his criticism of Democrats, claiming they were driven by what he referred to as “Trump Derangement Syndrome” and would rather see his administration fail than achieve another foreign policy success.
In addition, he singled out four Republican lawmakers who joined Democrats in supporting the measure, describing them as “grandstanders” and saying they should be ashamed of their actions.
“The four Republicans, that’s a whole other story – They’re GRANDSTANDERS! They should be ashamed of themselves,” he wrote.
