Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone call with Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi, discussing bilateral relations as well as regional and global developments, according to the Turkish Presidency.
During the conversation on Monday, Erdogan reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to strengthening ties with Iraq and highlighted the significant opportunities for cooperation between the two neighbours.
Focus on strategic cooperation
The Turkish president pointed to the vast potential for deeper collaboration in key sectors, particularly energy, the defence industry, and transportation.
The call comes as Ankara seeks to advance a new phase of engagement with Baghdad, building on shared economic and strategic interests.
