Two aspirants are slugging it out with Gov. Hyacinth Alia for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in Benue, Prof. Mohammed Isah has said.
Isah, who is the Chairman of the Governorship/State Assembly Primary Election Committee in Benue, made the disclosure during the distribution of sensitive materials for the conduct of the party’s governorship primaries on Thursday in Makurdi.
The committee chairman named the aspirants as Mr Jeffrey Kuranun and Mr Terwase Orbunde.
He said that all three aspirants had been cleared to participate in the governorship primary.
The distribution of materials started at about 2pm.
Isah explained that the election would be conducted across the 276 wards in the 23 local government areas of the state.
The committee chairman expressed confidence in the preparedness of the party to conduct a credible and peaceful exercise.
Meanwhile, the State Chairman of the APC, Mr Benjamin Omale, assured party members of adequate security during the primary election.
Omale also called on party stakeholders and members to remain united, stressing that the primaries are family affairs that should be handled peacefully and with mutual understanding. (NAN)
