The Federal Government has directed the immediate opening of all sections of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road to ease movement for commuters travelling during the Eid al-Adha celebration.
The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, gave the directive to the contractor handling the project, Infiouest Nigeria Limited.
In a statement issued by the minister’s media aide, Francis Nwaze, the move was aimed at ensuring safer and smoother journeys for motorists during the festive period.
The statement noted that the minister was aware of an earlier accident that occurred along the road, adding that the scene had been completely cleared.
It added that security agencies had been deployed to strategic points along the highway to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of commuters throughout the Sallah period.
The government urged motorists to cooperate with security operatives and obey traffic regulations while using the road.
