Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has praised President Bola Tinubu for approving the design and procurement of two major highway projects, describing the move as another sign of the President’s commitment to rebuilding the South-East through infrastructure.
The governor made the disclosure in a post on X on Thursday.
Soludo said the approvals followed a meeting he held with Tinubu on July 1, after which the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, asked him to submit details of roads they had previously discussed.
According to the governor, he forwarded two road projects on July 3. They include the proposed dualisation of the 108-kilometre Otuocha–Anam–Abaji road linking Anambra and Kogi states, and the 150-kilometre Oba–Nnewi–Uga–Ihube (Okigwe Junction) road connecting Anambra and Imo to the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway through Abia State.
Soludo disclosed that he received confirmation on July 15 from the Minister of Works that President Tinubu had approved both projects for design and procurement.
Expressing excitement over the development, the governor wrote, “I can’t contain my joy and that of my people regarding the great news from DIKESIMBA Anambra; DIKESIMBA NDIGBO, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
He described the approvals as historic, saying they would transform not only the South-East but also the South-South and North Central regions.
“Certainly, President Tinubu has a date with history, and even more so with the Southeast. He continues to demonstrate his avowed commitment to orchestrating the reconstruction of the Southeast, thereby finally healing the wounds of the Civil War. There are several unprecedented, foundational infrastructural rebirths going on in the Southeast at the moment,” Soludo said.
Speaking on the newly approved projects, he added, “Today, 15th July, I received a message from the Minister of Works that the President has graciously approved both roads for design and procurement. These two roads constitute critical game-changers for the Southeast, South-South and North Central. The man who tamed the Atlantic Ocean in Lagos is certainly redefining politics, and the Southeast won’t be the same again.”
The governor also thanked the President for the approvals, saying, “History will be kind to you.”
The latest development adds to the growing political partnership between Tinubu and Soludo.
During Tinubu’s working visit to Anambra in May 2025, Soludo publicly declared his support for the President, saying the All Progressives Grand Alliance and the All Progressives Congress shared the same progressive ideology.
After Soludo secured a landslide re-election victory in the Anambra governorship election later that year, Tinubu congratulated him and praised his leadership.
In March 2026, Soludo announced that APGA would not field a presidential candidate in the 2027 election, declaring support for Tinubu’s second-term bid. He later urged Ndigbo to rally behind the President during a political gathering in Ebonyi State before APGA formally adopted Tinubu as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election in July 2026.
