The United States carried out another round of airstrikes on military targets in Iran on Tuesday, extending its military campaign into the 11th consecutive night, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM).
CENTCOM said the strikes began at 7 p.m. ET and were part of ongoing efforts to weaken Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping passing through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s busiest oil transit routes.
Explosions Reported in Tabriz and Bushehr
Iranian media reported explosions in different parts of the country following the latest strikes.
According to Iran’s Fars news agency, several explosions were heard near the southern area of Tabriz in northwestern Iran.
Meanwhile, the semi-official Tasnim news agency said a loud explosion was reported in parts of Bushehr. Initial assessments suggested that US forces had targeted two locations.
Air Defence Activated in Tehran
Nour News reported that Iran activated its air defence systems in the capital, Tehran, to respond to what it described as “hostile” targets. The move came as reports of military activity emerged from different regions across the country.
Despite reports of strikes elsewhere, Reuters quoted Tasnim, citing a Hormozgan provincial official, as saying there had been no “enemy” attack or explosion in Sirik or any other part of southern Iran’s Hormozgan province.
Strait of Hormuz Remains Key Focus
The latest strikes are part of ongoing US military operations aimed at reducing Iran’s military capabilities and limiting threats to commercial vessels operating in and around the Strait of Hormuz.
The strategic waterway remains a critical route for global oil shipments, making security in the region a major international concern.
