Explosions were reported across multiple regions of Iran after the United States launched a fresh wave of military strikes, sharply escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran. Iranian media and local reports confirmed blasts in areas including Sirik, Minab, Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island and Gorgan, while air defence systems were activated in several southern parts of the country.

The strikes came hours after US President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth warned of strong military action if Iran did not change its stance. Soon after, US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that additional “self-defence strikes” had begun at 5:15 pm ET on the orders of the Commander in Chief, citing Iran’s “continued aggression.”

Trump, speaking from the Oval Office, said the US would continue attacking Iran “very hard” unless Tehran agreed to a deal. Hegseth also indicated a major operation was underway, saying CENTCOM would be “busy tonight” and that key Iranian facilities would be targeted.

Following the warnings, explosions were reported in multiple Iranian locations, with Sirik and Minab among the first to be hit. Air defence systems were activated as authorities responded to the strikes. The military warned that all ships, including oil tankers, would be blocked and could be targeted if they attempted to pass. Iranian media later claimed that two vessels violating the restriction were struck, though CENTCOM said commercial traffic was still continuing.
