A woman who sustained gunshot wounds during a kidnapping attack in the Ogbere Forest area of Ogun State has recounted her ordeal after she was rescued by security operatives.
Speaking after her rescue, the victim described how armed men blocked the road and ordered her to leave her vehicle.
“When we were going to the centre of the road, what I saw was a young man parked… He said, ‘Come out, or I will shoot you.’ I managed myself, I said, ‘I won’t come out.’ He fired me with a bullet,” she said.
She added that after shooting her, one of the attackers returned and forcefully took away members of her family.
“He grabbed my daughter… and he shot me. He came back again, grabbed my sister and me,” she recounted.
The woman was among five victims rescued within 25 hours during a joint operation by the Lagos and Ogun State Police Commands under Operation KOSAYE.
Police said the victim sustained gunshot injuries during the attack and is receiving medical attention.
The command added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the kidnapping gang.
