Veteran Nollywood actor, Chief Chiwetalu Agu, has given strong advice to young people planning to marry. He said being a virgin does not automatically make someone good marriage material.
In a new video that is trending on social media today, Sunday, July 12, 2026, the veteran actor spoke seriously while looking straight at the camera. He warned people not to rush into marriage just because their partner has not had sex before. Watch video here
“Being a virgin does not automatically make someone a wife material. Don’t marry a woman simply because she’s a virgin. This also applies to men,” he said.
Chief Chiwetalu Agu explained that virginity only shows purity, but it does not mean the person has good character, emotional intelligence, or maturity. He told people to look for more important things like peace, happiness, and how the person behaves in daily life before they decide to marry.
The actor, who is known for his many roles in Igbo and English movies, has been giving advice on marriage and life for some time now. Many Nigerians see him as a father figure because of his age and experience.
