Iran-US war news: Iran’s powerful military establishment appears to be strengthening its hold over the country’s political system. According to a report by Fox News, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is reportedly blocking major presidential appointments. Restrictions are also being imposed on access to Tehran’s top leadership.
The report, drawing on findings from Iran International, claims the Iranian military has assumed effective control of key state functions, raising speculation about who is actually running the nation amid growing internal conflicts. “IRGC has blocked President Masoud Pezeshkian’s presidential appointments and erected what sources described as a security cordon around Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei,” the report stated.

Since the beginning of the US-Israel joint military strike on Iran on February 28, political uncertainty has gripped the country. No one knows who controls Tehran amid the rising internal political conflicts. Following the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s assassination, his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, was subsequently appointed Iran’s new Supreme Leader. But there are no clear updates or detailed information about his condition and location. He has been out of public sight for several weeks now. Some US officials claim that he may be critically injured or incapacitated.

Iranian President faces political deadlock
Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian is said to be experiencing a political deadlock as intensifying tensions between his administration and top military leadership deepen. Several media reports mentioned that his attempt to appoint a new intelligence minister failed after mounting pressure from IRGC commander Ahmad Vahidi.
Vahidi reportedly rejected all proposed candidates, insisting “all critical and sensitive positions must be chosen and managed directly by the Revolutionary Guard,” under wartime conditions. Tensions have escalated further with the Iranian military controlling access to Mojtaba Khamenei, reports added.

Sources cited in the report also mentioned that a military council of senior IRGC officials now tightly regulates communication reaching the leadership, blocking government reports from flowing to Khamenei as well as isolating him. Pezeshkian has allegedly sought urgent meetings, but has failed to establish contact.
