A governorship aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary in Adamawa State, Abdulrahman Haske, has questioned the conduct of the exercise, alleging irregularities in parts of the process.
Naijaonpoint reports that Haske said there was no collation in some local government areas before a winner was declared.
In a statement, the aspirant said his team did not have access to the collation process and would review its data before taking a position.
Haske said he was surprised that a winner was announced while his team was still waiting for the vote collation.
“It was surprising that while we were waiting for the collation of the votes to happen, what happened to our greatest surprise was the declaration of the winner. We have our data, and we will consult and state our position over the weekend,” he said.
The aspirant said transparency and fairness were critical to sustaining confidence within the party.
“The integrity of the process is as important as the outcome. Transparent and inclusive procedures remain essential to sustaining trust and confidence within the party,” he said.
Haske appealed to his supporters across Adamawa State to remain calm while consultations continue with party leaders and stakeholders.
“As responsible democrats, we are engaging widely to review the exercise and explore all legitimate avenues available to us,” he said.
He thanked his supporters for standing by him during the primary and reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC.
