A woman has sparked heated reactions online after making a controversial statement about the person she would find hardest to lose.
The woman, who said she is neither married nor a mother, revealed that she struggles to understand how women cope after losing their husbands.
“I do not understand how women function after losing their husbands,” she said.
She went on to make a statement that quickly drew attention, saying she would rather watch her children die than lose her husband.
“I’d prefer watching my kids die in front of me than have my husband die,” she said.
According to her, her husband would be the one person she would never want to lose.
“Everyone else can go, just not him,” she added.
The woman admitted that she currently has no husband or children, meaning she has not experienced either marriage or motherhood.
She acknowledged that having children could possibly change her view, but said she was not convinced it would.
“I’m not married nor do I have children, but I highly doubt I’d change my mind even if I had kids,” she said.
Explaining the emotions behind her comments, she said the mere thought of losing a husband is overwhelming and something she hopes never happens to her.
“May Allah protect me from such a fate,” she said.
“The thought alone paralyzes me. I’m not strong enough to endure that,” she added.
Her comments have since generated debate online, with people sharing different views about marriage, motherhood, grief and the emotional bonds people place above others.
